It’s here! Many, many dedicated people in the tech community contributed to this weekend’s events to benefit those in New York most devastated by Hurricane Sandy.  Very proud of the NY tech community for pulling together and giving back to New York. NY Tech Meetup organizer Jessica Lawrence, the awesome Rob Underwood (who announced the events at our last event) and Tony Bagicalupo (founder of New Work City and presenter at our last meetup) are a few of the amazing people who spearheaded bringing this together.

Here is some basic information about the events that you can participate:

ALL PROCEEDS FROM TICKET SALES TO THIS EVENT WILL BE CONTRIBUTED TO SANDY RELIEF VIA THE #NYTECHRESPONDS SANDY BENEFIT CAMPAIGN.

Over the last few years, and driven by an amazing array of people, the NY technology sector (i.e., technology companies as well as digital media, interactive agencies, VCs, and startups, along with various professional service firms that work with these companies) has exploded. New York is now a legitimate tech capital. Yet Sandy has delivered a serious blow to our home city – the city where we’ve chosen to build, code, and grow our businesses.

As proven by the tremendous collaboration and grassroots cooperation across different people and organizations in the wake Sandy, we are a resilient city and the NY tech community has stepped up to help drive recovery. But there is still so much more for us to do – both to recover now and to prepare before the next disaster hits. NYC has given us much — we now must give back.

December 1 and 2 is our #NYTechResponds Sandy Benefit Weekend: Hackathon, Relief Agency Conference & Fundraiser.
